Lorilee's Story
I carry the wild, resilient spirit of my Irish and Scottish roots. A fierce devotion to love shapes everything I do. Life has always felt like an adventure, making space for new ideas and experiences. I hold a simple, honest gratitude for everyone who’s been part of my story, and my hope is to keep moving forward with openness, faith, and love—believing that when we show up as we are and support one another, real possibility opens.
That gratitude and openness draw me back to where it all began, with my family. My parents married young and raised three daughters with enormous hope and courage. Their story reminds me every day of what truly matters: nurturing happiness, creating beauty wherever we find ourselves, and letting love expand in the most unexpected ways. Growing up, my faith in God was never just a quiet background presence. It was the solid foundation on which I built both my values and my life. Like a good glass of wine, full- bodied and rich with depth, it brought clarity and strength to my restless spirit, creative longing, and search for meaning. That foundation naturally led me to treasure relationships above all else. What fills my heart most are the people I love; grandparents, parents, sisters, my husband of forty wonderful years, our children, daughters-in-law, their families, our cherished granddaughters, my nieces and nephews. These relationships, past and present, are the colors I paint with. My family is more than just the base I stand on; they are the reason I show up fully in every moment, both in life and in art.
It was through this love of family and creating a shared beauty that my passion for art quietly emerged. I began by experimenting with design elements of my home and discovering how shapes and details could transform a space’s energy. Those early pencil sketches, just me and a blank page, revealed the magic of lines and forms coming alive with movement. Then, everything changed the day I first stood before a blank canvas. That moment felt like an open door, a new journey beginning. Teaching myself to paint was invigorating; each brush stroke provoked the next. Color and shape began to create worlds before my eyes, sometimes as if the figures sprang from deep within. Art quickly became much more than a hobby; it became the path where I found fulfillment and moments I deeply treasure.
Over time, painting unfolded into a rhythm all its own. Inspiration bubbles up effortlessly; it comes from curiosity, the need to be present, and the wild fun of imagination swirling in my mind. When I paint, I let things flow naturally, embracing spontaneous bursts of color, movement, and energy. At the same time, I continuously refine the lines and deepen the colors; sharpening and shaping them like waves guided by the ocean’s rhythm. For me, this process is the perfect balance of freedom and intention, turning brushstrokes into something with both meaning and purpose, something more than just color or form but uniquely alive.
Yet, for me, art isn’t only about expression; it’s about connection. When I put brush to canvas, I capture tenderness, laughter, even the chaotic energy of family life, along with the sparkling glimmers of everyday beauty. But what really matters is how it speaks to you. I don’t want to tell you what to feel or think, I want the work to meet you where you are. My hope is that when you experience it, something feels personal and real, and maybe you even see a little piece of yourself reflected somewhere within the colors. Every time someone connects with my art, whether moved, inspired, or even just a little stirred, I’m reminded why I remain on this path. It is a journey shaped by faith, sustained by family, and guided by a restless spirit seeking meaning in every moment. My deepest hope is that each canvas not only fills the space where it hangs but carries the purpose it was meant for: a new beginning, a step toward completion, a reflection of a life lived with intention and love. That kind of connection inspires me to keep exploring and expressing through my art.
